For healthcare
Group email for healthcare networks & support groups
Everyone on one address. Nobody’s address in the To line.
Nurses, physicians and support-group members send and reply from their own inboxes. Their addresses stay hidden, the archive stays private, and no IT is needed.
No credit card required · Members don’t need an account

Privacy a healthcare list actually needs
The privacy chart
Support-group members and clinicians on personal email have good reasons not to broadcast their addresses. Here’s exactly what each kind of person can see on a Gaggle Mail list.
| What | Other members | People outside the list | Search engines |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who else is on the list | Hidden unless you choose to share it | Hidden | Hidden |
| A sender’s email address | Shown, or Hidden with Incognito mode on | Hidden | Never indexed |
| The message archive | Readable, if you allow it | No access | Never indexed |
| Posting to the list | Yes, moderated if you like | Turned back or held | Not applicable |
Every message is an individual copy
Nobody’s address sits in a To or Cc line for the rest of the list to collect. That matters for support groups, and for clinicians who join on personal email.
Incognito mode
Turn it on and every sender’s address is hidden from the group, and members can post under an alias. On an Incognito list only admins read the archive and see who’s on it.
A private, searchable archive
There is no public archive option, so nothing is published to the web. Let members read it, and a new coalition member can catch up on the last year in an afternoon.
Members-only posting and moderation
Nobody outside the list can send to it. Approve every message before it’s delivered, or only those from the members you choose.
Roles, not one overworked admin
Each list has its own admins, moderators and member managers, and Organization admins look after all of them: one list per committee, under one Organization.
Gets past hospital mail filters
Hospital filters are among the strictest anywhere. We send from managed, dedicated IPs with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up for you, and deliver 99.9% of messages.
The question every healthcare buyer asks
Is a listserv HIPAA compliant?
A discussion list is the wrong place for protected health information, and ours is not designed to carry it. Gaggle Mail is built for professional networks, coalitions and support groups: conversations between members, not patient records.
We do not sign Business Associate Agreements. If your use needs PHI in email, you need a HIPAA email platform, not a listserv.
What we do provide: a SOC 2 Type 1 audit, a Data Processing Agreement that covers every account, TLS encryption in transit, private archives, and the controls above so your list stays members-only. The report and our policies are in the Trust Center.
- SOC 2 Type 1 audit
- Signed DPA
- TLS in transit
- Private archives
Made for
- Professional discussion between clinicians
- Coalition and task-force updates
- Peer support between members
- Training cohorts and CE announcements
Never on any listserv
- Patient names, records or test results
- Anything that identifies a patient
Say so where members will see it: in the welcome message and the footer of every message, both of which you can write on any paid plan.
Who uses it
Listservs for nurses, physicians, therapists and public-health teams
Nurses & nurse educators
A state or regional nursing list, or a hospital system’s nurse-educator list across sites. Leans on daily digests for people on shifts, and on the archive for the policies everyone asks for again.
Physicians & specialty societies
“Has anyone seen this?” discussion lists. Leans on moderation, so posts are checked before they reach the whole society, and on questions kept general, with no patient details.
Therapists & peer support
Caregiver, bereavement and recovery groups, and therapists’ peer consultation lists. Leans on Incognito mode, and on one rule in the welcome message: client information never goes on the list.
Public-health coalitions
County coalitions and grant-funded consortia with members at many agencies, each on their own email. Leans on several lists under one Organization: steering committee, all partners, one per workgroup.
Running a training or residency program? Give each cohort its own list, and the archive outlives the class. Comparing options first? See why lists like these outgrow Google Groups and Outlook contact groups.

“Such an improvement to our old Listserv! Very easy to administer.”
Moving from a hospital listserv or LISTSERV?
Many healthcare lists still run on L-Soft LISTSERV, GNU Mailman or Google Groups, often on a server someone set up years ago. Our support team will move yours for you at no charge, members and archive included. The guides: LISTSERV, Mailman and the Google Groups migration tool.
Talk to us about a migrationQuestions healthcare groups ask
Is a listserv HIPAA compliant?
Not as a place for protected health information. A discussion list is built for conversations between members, not patient records, and Gaggle Mail is not designed to carry PHI. We do not sign Business Associate Agreements. We do provide a SOC 2 Type 1 audit, a Data Processing Agreement, TLS in transit and private archives.
Can support-group members post anonymously?
Yes, with Incognito mode. Turn it on for the group and every sender's email address is hidden from the other members, and a member who wants to stay anonymous can use an alias as their display name. On an Incognito group only the admins can read the archive and see the member list.
Do members need to create accounts?
No. Members use the email address they already have, with any provider, and messages arrive in their normal inbox.
Can we use our hospital's or association's domain?
Yes. Premium and Enterprise lists can be hosted on your own domain, such as nurses@yourassociation.org, and every paid plan can redirect an address on your domain to your list.
Can we run separate lists for chapters or committees?
Yes. An Organization holds as many lists as you need, each with its own admins and settings. On an unlimited-groups subscription you pay once per person, however many lists they're on.
Do you sign a DPA or answer security questionnaires?
Yes. Our Data Processing Agreement covers every account automatically, and we'll countersign a copy on request. Enterprise customers can send us their own security questionnaire and we'll complete it by email. Our SOC 2 Type 1 report and policies are in our Trust Center.
